The Best Chanukah Gift Is…

Anything that glimmers.

An evening with family at our annual Chanukah party. Every year someone else hosts and we get to see cousins and aunt and uncles we haven’t seen in months. We also exchange presents, but that pales in comparison to the nachas I get seeing my parents surrounded by kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids.

Having a night off from cooking. Whether it be takeout, going out, or my husband filling in for the night, knowing that I don’t have to come home from the office and make dinner is so relaxing. Even better if we can stretch out the meal for leftovers the next day.

Something homemade from the kids. Last Chanukah I joked with my son that I wanted a gold bracelet as a gift. Later that day, he presented me with a makeshift bracelet that he concocted out of yellow oaktag. The effort and attention he put into this fix this pls:arts n crafts meant so much to me. I will cherish it forever.

I’m a very simple guy. My wife knows that any sefer will do. Sitting by the menorah and learning is the ultimate pleasure.
