EDITORIAL

Dear Readers,

As summer comes to a close and we return from our bungalow colonies and getaways, I would like to welcome you back to good, old-fashioned Brooklyn.

Many people are voicing concern about the current state of New York City. This city has been ravaged by riots and has suffered greatly from the pandemic. The economy has taken a downturn as companies have been impacted, especially those in the food service and retail industries. Many department stores have closed or are no longer paying rent. There are many regulations in place which prevent people from visiting stores, restaurants, and recreational facilities. People have fled elsewhere now that they have the option to work from home leaving Manhattan  with over 14,000 empty apartments.

Concern under these circumstances is understandable, but it is also important to think long term. We live in a great city. We rebounded strongly from the 2008 recession, and we can come back even stronger now. Interest rates are at an all-time low, making this an opportune time to think about buying a home. Many companies are offering new jobs, many of which can be done from the comfort of your own home.

Stick this one out and do not lose faith in New York City.

As we prepare for Rosh Hashanah, I would like to wish each one of you a happy, healthy, and safe New Year. May this year be one of blessing and success in every way, allowing us to move well past the difficulties we encountered in the last few months.

Warm regards,

Shea
