SHEEPSHEAD NURSING AND REHAB CELEBRATES 50 YEARS OF SERVICING THE COMMUNITY

It’s not common for elected officials and key players in the medical industry to join together marking the ribbon-cutting of a medical facility, but that is exactly what happened on Wednesday, September 18th. Over 120 people, including many local elected officials, heads of hospitals, and community leaders attended a ribbon cutting ceremony celebrating the new multi-million dollar renovation and 50-year anniversary of Sheepshead Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. The gathering was seen as newsworthy with even Brooklyn’s own Channel 12 making an appearance to broadcast the event. The event started with Mr. Jerome Kahan, administrator, providing private tours around the facility showcasing their updated bedrooms, state-of-the-art rehabilitation center, and newly-opened dialysis center, which now allows patients to receive bedside care rather than seek treatment outside in another facility. Shea Rubenstein, executive director of the JCC of Marine Park, emceed the highly-anticipated event, which began with Mr. Jerome Kahan, together with owner Mrs. Olga Lipschitz, describing the history of Sheepshead Nursing and Rehabilitation Center as well as details of their impressive renovation. Assemblywoman Helene Weinstein and Councilman Kalman Yeger each presented Mrs. Lipschitz and Mr. Kahan with an official NYS Assembly citation and NYC Council proclamation acknowledging their accomplishments. Public Advocate Jumaane Williams and NYPD Deputy Chief Charles Scholl made congratulatory remarks as well. The honoree at the event was Councilman Chaim Deutsch as he was presented with the Community Leadership Award for his selfless dedication to District 48 and all of NYC. Guests were then treated to a lavish, white-gloved reception on the facility’s beautiful patio.

Seeing this grand reopening as a major benefit to their district, many community leaders came out to show their support expressing their appreciation for all the services Sheepshead Nursing and Rehabilitation Center offers the community. Other notable electives who came include: Assemblyman Simcha Eichenstein, Councilman Alan Maisel, Councilman Mathieu Eugene, and Brooklyn Borough Liaison Ari Kagan. Sheepshead Nursing and Rehab has devoted much time and money into their renovations sparing no cost so that the end result can be a space that is both aesthetically pleasing and effective for patient recovery.
