Dear Readers,
History was made this past week as the New York State Supreme Court welcomed the Honorable Rachel (Ruchie) Freier as its newest member. Ruchie is a Chasidic woman who is a true trailblazer. I remember volunteering to give concerts 25 years ago for Ruchy’s organization, B’Derech, for children at risk. She is a true example of one who goes out of her way to get things done and to care for others. We wish her much success and hatzlachah in her new role.
On a local level, we at the JCCMP are excited to announce that we just finished building our own music studio at the library, enabling us to offer music lessons and a recording space. Look out for upcoming announcements regarding these programs. In other news, the JCC has started offering free tax preparation courses, a new season of Motzoei Shabbos girls program, and Mommy and Me. We are working on more programming to be introduced over the coming months.
These developments take place against the backdrop of a war in Eretz Yisrael. As we go about our daily lives, it is with constant tefillos for the return of our hostages and the safety of our soldiers and our large, extended family that is all of Klal Yisrael. May Hashem answer all our tefillos swiftly.
Warm regards,
Shea
