Dear Readers,
A lot has happened over the last month. Federal workers have not been paid, which hurts their families and affects people around them. I was pleased to see the Hebrew Free Loan Society establish a special loan fund to advance payment to federal employees until they receive their paychecks. It’s important to make sure that everyone can pay their bills and keep food on their table.
The JCCMP has over the past few weeks made appeals in many local shuls for Project Machal, our food initiative which subsidizes grocery bills for families facing hard times. We have also begun working on our Pesach program, which helps 250 families with gift cards and food for the holiday. I am extremely grateful to the Met Council, the leading organization in New York City fighting poverty, for partnering with us to try help so many.
We are gearing up for our sixth annual E- Commerce Conference, to take place on February 12 at The Palace. We expect close to 800 attendees to benefit from this event, which will include education and mentoring from industry giants such the director of development of eBay. We provide several industry-specific events each year to help new businesses grow and succeed through education, mentorship, and many other opportunities.
Please email me at the JCC and let me know about your own ideas and how you would like to volunteer. Let’s help the community – together.
Warm regards,
Shea
