Dear Readers,
I welcomed the recent news that Councilman David Greenfield, a former Marine Park resident and current councilman of Boro Park and parts of Midwood, will be taking the helm of Met Council as its new CEO. The JCC of Marine Park is affiliated with Met Council, as are many JCC’s. We are very proud to be affiliated with a citywide organization that does so much in the social services and advocacy areas. Met Council has gone through changes over the past few years, but is still going strong, servicing over 100,000 New Yorkers each year. The current CEO, Alan Schorr, who will be leaving at the end of the year, is doing a fantastic job, working hard to cut costs and raise revenue so the organization can flourish. David Greenfield’s joining as CEO is a very positive step for Met Council and all its affiliated JCCs. In addition to his knowledge as a city council member, David brings to the table his experience with the Sephardic Federation and Teach NYS, which advocates for non-public school students in the areas of busing, security guards and tuition relief. David understands our needs as a community and the nuances of how we operate. With David, you know it will get done, and I look forward to working with him.
I ‘d like to wish Kalman Yeger good luck in his running for city council to fill David’s seat, Kalman has been working behind the scenes with many of our elected officials, and we have had the pleasure of having him emcee several of our events over the past couple of years. I’m sure he will continue the great work David has established for the community if he succeeds in winning the votes of his constituents.

Warm regards,

Shea Shea@jccmp.org
