THE KIDS ARE AT CAMP!
After all that frantic packing
The shopping and the labeling
I’m waiting for the quiet
I hear it’s so enabling:
Time to read those big fat books
Time to bake and organize
Endless swaths of time for me
To lounge under bright skies
But alas-no sooner does the bus
departs
When the first call cones in:
“Ma, I need a batter fan!
Can you send one in?”
And thus begins the grand parade
Of packages big and small
All shipped with love from the post
office
Where I stand in lines that crawl!
I send homemade cakes and cookies
Nail polish and small toys
I send short notes and long letters
And sports stuff for the boys
And so I’m back to do the errands-
Albeit in a different mode
Running and shopping and sending
Loving packages from our abode
