The To-Do List

Anticipation, you know,

Is very different from reality

Take for example,

The List:

Endless rows of things to do

To organize and buy

Photos to print

Errands to run

The neglected clutter in the shed

Shall I go on??

I shan’t

Because I’d much rather

Sit here in the shade

Close my eyes

And inhale the heady air

(Isn’t that what summer’s for?)

And as for that list

The one I wrote because I was sure

I’d have plenty of time in July

It can be relegated

To the far recesses of winter –

I’m sure I’ll have time then….

Right?
