New year, new start,
The world feels fresh and clean.
New promises, new transitions,
The dawn of brand-new dreams.
And yet with all this newness,
We want some things to stay the same:
The ebb and flow of daily life,
Routines that keep us sane.
Yellow busses filled with kids,
Crowded grocery stores.
Family coming to visit,
A long day full of chores.
Our prayers are for many things,
And with them is the hope,
That it’ll just be small, everyday blips,
With which we’ll have to cope.
