Lag BaOmer
We were there in that little house
But my mind was miles away
Where throngs danced
And bonfires swayed
At an ancient grave
On a holy day
We were there in that little house
But my mind was miles away
I could see the bright flames
The circles of dancing
The boys held aloft
On this holy day
But it wasn’t enough, all the magic I saw
I wanted to show my kids, too
So I turned on some music
Cut flames out of paper
To mimic the fires
Of this holy day
And we laid them on the floor
Our bright hand-cut flames
Linked hands and formed
Our own circle of joy
Dancing together
That holy day
We danced there in that little house
My small children and me
And their eyes glowed
Just like bonfires
The holy flames
Of a holy day
We don’t live anymore in that little house
And my children are no longer small
But each year I can picture
The best bonfire of all
The fire in their eyes
On that holy day
