The Seder
The table’s all bedecked in white
On this special, holy night
Silver adds a sparkling gleam
Tonight we are all kings and queens!
In our armchairs we recline
As we sip four cups of wine
We listen to the questions asked
And discuss our nation’s past
I join in the happy discussion
Glad to forget the preholiday fussin’
I can see how you’d forget
That I’m the mother, not a guest
But if you look more carefully
These tired eyes are what you’ll see
All the weeks of preparation
The cleaning, shopping, and frustration
Culminate on this special date
As I try to stay awake
And yet I’m smiling the whole time
I did it all; this night is mine!
