Tu BiShvat

It is Tu BiShvat,

But it doesn’t look like a new year for the trees,

As the trees are still covered with snow. 

It looks like each one is wearing its own white tallis, 

And the wind is howling through the branches.

Are they swaying in prayer too?

Even though we can’t see what is happening inside the tree,

The sap is beginning to rise, 

And before long, tiny buds will form on each branch.

We can’t see the prayers inside us either, 

But they also rise up, and then they branch out.  

They help wonderful things grow too.
