SUMMER ENTERTAINING

HOMEMADE BBQ SAUCE

Ditch the bottled stuff for homemade barbecue sauce! This recipe is a great way to use up any leftover condiments in your pantry and customize to create your own barbecue sauce.

1/4 cup molasses

1/2 cup ketchup

2 tbs. mustard

1/4 cup white or apple cider vinegar

1/2 tsp. garlic powder

1/4 tsp. liquid smoke (hickory/mesquite)

1/4 tsp. salt

  1. Pour all of the ingredients into a small saucepan.

  1. Over medium heat, whisk ingredients until well combined. Once the sauce starts to simmer, shut off the flame and allow to cool. Store in the fridge in an airtight container for up to a month.

Yield: 1 cup sauce

BBQ BEEF SKEWERS

This recipe is great if you’re making a quick, marinade-free barbecue dinner. All you need is your favorite protein, some homemade barbecue sauce, and a hot grill.

2 pounds cubed shish kabob beef (cut into 1 inch cubes)

1 cup homemade barbecue sauce

Dash of salt

  1. Season the beef cubes with salt and barbecue sauce.
  2. Heat your grill or grill pan on high heat for at least 10 minutes.
  3. Meanwhile, skewer the meat cubes, about 1/2 an inch apart from each other.
  4. Grill for 3-4 minutes on each side. Serve hot.

LIMONANA POPSICLES

There is nothing more refreshing than Israeli mint lemonade. It’s tangy, sweet, and cooling with a fresh mint finish. This Popsicle requires just three simple ingredients and is the best hot afternoon pick me up! TIP: Add some rum or vodka for an adult mojito style Popsicle.

3 cups water

3/4 cup lemon juice (5-6 lemons)

1/2 cup sugar

10-15 fresh mint leaves

  1. Blend the ingredients together until the sugar fully dissolves and the mint leaves are pureed.

  1. Pour mixture into Popsicle molds and freeze for at least 4-6 hours.
