NYC ELDERCARE Expo & Conference

For seniors & Their Caregivers

Brooklyn’s Eldercare Expo & Conference that is being sponsored by the JCC of Marine Park will be held on Sunday, November 18th, from 9 A.M. – 3 P.M. at the Kingsway Events Center, corner of Kings Highway and Nostrand Avenue. Admission and valet parking is free. Seminars will offer advice on how to keep your loved ones safe, preventing fraud and scams against the elderly, recognizing elder care abuse, navigating home care options and other related topics. Tovi Hecht’s Art Highlighted

In Marine Park JCC

Brooklyn residents had a unique opportunity to be inspired by the breathtaking whirlwind of color, shades and scenes that have defined the artistry of Ms. Tovi Hecht whose work highlights the incredible beauty of Israel’s topography and landscape when a special Art Show was held in the JCC of Marine Park on September 9th. Internationally renowned, her paintings which are mostly acrylic or oil on canvas that focus primarily on Jewish themes. In addition those in attendance were able to enjoy a tasting of food and wine by Herzog.

Six Years Since the Devastation

Of Hurricane Sandy.

It was six years ago that much of New York City’s waterfront was devastated by Hurricane Sandy. Many of us were victims or know people whose homes or businesses were wiped out in such a short time. Since then we are still struggling for real solutions to the dangers of flooding in our coastal communities. The Army Corps of Engineers scheduled a special meeting at the New York Aquarium in September to give Southern Brooklyn residents an opportunity to review the Army Corps of Engineer’s suggestions for flood protection. Local elected officials and city and state agencies were also in attendance.

 

Sunday Girls Club Sponsored

By the JCC of Marine Park

Do you have a daughter or granddaughter between the ages 4-10 who is bored on Sundays? One of the more popular JCC of Marine Parks projects is the Sunday Girls Club directed by Vichna Kanarek at the Kingsway Jewish Center with all new programs in such areas as gymnastics, swimming, food deco, crafting and kangoo dancing. Fall Motzoei Shabbos Lecture Series

At Congregation Talmud Torah of Flatbush

The Annual Fall Motzoei Shabbos Lecture Series has been announced by Congregation Talmud Torah of Flatbush, 1305 Coney Island Avenue (between Avenue I and J.) Starting at 8:15 P.M., the lecture series begins on Nov. 10th with Rabbi Dr. Jacob J. Schacter speaking about “An American Soldier Goes to Fight the Nazis.” Other lecturer include Dr. Efraim Zuroff on Nov. 17th on the topic of “My Life as a Nazi Hunter,” Rabbi Menachem Penner on Dec. 1st on “Gedolim: A Look at Jewish Followership,” Rabbi Ari Lamm on Dec. 15th on “The Jews, the Greeks and the Battle for Western Civilization” and Rabbi Aryeh Lebowitz on Dec. 22nd on “From the Rabbi’s Desk: Some Questions that are Stranger than Fiction.”

Parenting Workshop Conducted by

Ohr Shraga’lech of Marine Park

An Important Parenting Workshop was conducted last month by Ohr Shraga’lech of Marine Park at the JCC of Marine Park for women only, and admission was free. Rabbi Sholom Noach Landau, Rosh Hayeshiva of Mosdos Veretzky delivered opening remarks, while Mordechai Weinberger, LCSW, acclaimed speaker and master therapist was the Guest Lecturer who spoke on the topic of “Taking Your Child from Good to Great: A Move to Improve Your Child’s Behavior and Listening Skills.”

Small Business Conference on Nov. 13th

A one-day Accelerator Business Conference especially designed to help small businesses with education, networking, mentorship will be conducted by Tribeworks and the JCC of Marine Park. Participants will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 13th at the Hilton in Staten Island from 9 A.M. – 4 P.M. The event will include 20 seminars, private mentoring, an interest free loan panel. Rabbi Menachem Leibtag Give

Special Tanach Lecture at Beth Torah

Rabbi Menachem Leibtag, founder of the Tanach Study Center and an internationally acclaimed Bible scholar, pioneer of Jewish education on the internet and a rebbe at Yeshivat Har Etzion in Israel was the Scholar in Residence at Congregation Beth Torah for Perashat Noah where he gave a lecture on the topic “The Flood – A Story about Noah or a Story about Moshe Rabbenu.”

 

The Shabbos Project Challah Bake

Conducted by Merkaz Yisrael of Marine Park

Hundreds of women and girls attended this year’s The Shabbos Project Challah Bake conducted at Merkaz Yisrael of Marine Park. The Challah Bake began with a cooking demonstration by Sylvia Fallas author of “Challah Accompaniments & Dips.” A special Girls Art Project was staged.

Chaim Deutsch Press Conference In Response To The Pittsburgh Shooting
